Children & Young People
Jesus called the children to him and said 'Let the children come to me...for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these' (Luke 18:16)
As a benefice we are keen to ensure that from 0-18, all children and young people are at the heart of our church family, believing that we are all on a journey of faith together. We recognise that family life is busy and seek to create opportunities for children and their carers to engage in the life of our church throughout the week and in the school holidays. We are delighted to have strong links with our schools, through Open the Book, worship assemblies, conversation and craft and bespoke events.
Family Teatime Service
Our Family Teatime service for all the family takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 4pm at St Nicholas’ Church, Winsley. It is designed to cater for children who are primary age and below and so we seek to worship in a way that is familiar to them. This involves creativity, noise and a lot of fun! We are conscious that all children are different (as are all adults) and so there is no pressure on anyone to get more involved than they wish to be. The service is 30 minutes long and is followed by food in the church hall afterwards.
Sunbeams
Sunbeams meet on the second and fourth Wednesday at 10.30am at St Nicholas Church Hall, Winsley. Please contact Mary Hewetson for more details: 01225 722210.
BoA Youth Drop In
This takes place every Thursday during term time 3-4:15pm at Christ Church, Bradford on Avon. A safe warm space to chat and relax with hot chocolate, snacks, activities and games. For more details please contact Becky at becky.strike@discoverchristchurch.org.uk
Conversation & Craft
This is an inter-generational café that includes a class of school children and people from the community coming together over a craft activity, cake and refreshments.
Open the Book
Open the Book (OtB) is an exciting storytelling project where Bible stories are shared with children in a way that is fun, interactive and memorable. We have OtB teams in each of our three schools who bring alive Bible stories each week. The sessions are hugely popular with the children and valuable opportunity within our Benefice.
The Ark
