Christ Church / History
The Church was built in 1841 and is a notable example of Victorian architecture, having a majestic spire, some beautiful stained glass, wall paintings, wood carvings and a peal of eight bells.
Thanks to the dedication and care of many in our church community, our kneelers depict features of the church. The nave seats around 250 people and the Lady Chapel about 20 people.
The registers, apart from those in current use, are held at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre in Chippenham. If you are researching your family history and wish to locate graves, we have a Burials book which lists the location of known churchyard burials which have memorial stones, together with plot plans. The Burials book can be found inside the church on the board holding the carved font cover, together with a draft copy of a revised history of the church.
Further information about the church building and history is available on Wiltshire Council and Wikipedia websites.
